Nobody is bashing firefighters. Most people are very thankful for their efforts. It's the people sitting in their high back chairs making decisions from 400 miles away on a fire. That's the issue.

I invite all of you who think it is a easy job to grab some fire gear and go fight fire in the canyon under the conditions that were around during the Chips fire. When its all said and done, I dont think many of you would be bickering about it. God bless the fire fighters and Thank you!!!

"More than $54 million fighting the 75,000-acre" fire comes to more than $720 per acre. I doubt the land itself would even sell for that price. Does anyone ever consider the cost? Should we be telling people it's OK to live anywhere and expect unlimited resources will fight any fire?

Unfortunately, many times locals do not have a say on what resources they get. Other fires may take priority due to values at risk (ie. homes). Other fires were going on and resources were thin. There were not a large amount of structures threatened on the Chips. NIFC dictates who gets what & when.

'“We want the public’s input,” Ford said.' Well Earl - the public input is to salvage the timber and replant. Your organization has a pretty poor track record of rehabilitation after fires in the last 10 years. The Storey and Moonlight fires come to mind!
