On 4/12/11, Matt Janowiak, Acting Forest Supervisor Plumas National Forest, signed a Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact for the Jackson Project. The selected alternative would treat approximately 3,467 acres on the Beckwourth Ranger District, north and west of Blairsden and East of Cromberg, with a combination of mechanical thinning, mechanical fuels treatments (grapple pile and mastication), hand thinning, underburning, and thinning in aspen stands. This project would decommission or restore 11.5 miles of roads, reconstruct 1.6 miles of road, and construct 1.1 miles of road. A 1,580' gully causing resource damage in the Willow Creek would be repaired. This project has been designed to reduce fuel loading surrounding "At-risk Communities", modify potential fire behavior and improve forest health.
