Randy Beck fundraising dinner, auction this Friday

A tri-tip meal, auction and drawing will be held at Pioneer Park Pavilion on Fairgrounds Road in Quincy this Friday, Sept. 10, from 4 - 8 p.m. to raise money to help lifelong resident Randy Beck with his rising medical expenses resulting from his extensive battle with cancer.

Plumas Eureka State Park to re-open

The Plumas Eureka State Park Campground is set to re-open for the Labor Day weekend. The campground was closed a few weeks ago so State Park and Public Health officials could control fleas associated with wild rodents.

Measure B election result added to special agenda

The Plumas District Hospital board of directors has added an item to their agenda for a special meeting tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 2. The agenda item is: Impact of Measure B Election on the Bondholders and the District and Action Necessary to Protect the Bondholders. Discussion and Possible Action.

Train ride down the Canyon delights 450 locals

The Feather River Express, a special passenger train celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first passenger train on the Western Pacific route, carried 660 people coming and going through the Feather River Canyon during the Railroad Days celebration Aug. 20-22.

Soroptimists International of Portola and the Plumas Sierra CattleWomen, two of the oldest organizations for women in the eastern end of the county, will join forces Sept. 11 to present “A Historic and Personal View of the Women in the Sierra Valley.”
