Indian Valley open houses

“A Christmas Tradition” is on tap once again with several Greenville, Crescent Mills and Taylorsville businesses holding holiday open houses Nov. 1, 2 and 3. Participating businesses offering holiday cheer and special deals include Sterling Sage, Evergreen Market, Village Drug, Hunter Ace Hardware, Mohawk Trading Post, MusicLand, Greenville Auto Parts and General Store in Greenville; Main Street Salon and Young’s Market in Taylorsville; and, of course, Crescent Country in Crescent Mills, where the original idea began 28 years ago with a holiday tradition called Christmas at Crescent Country. Barbara’s famous cookies and wassail always help make this a very special occasion.

            Fran Gray has relocated her Chester business, Back Porch Consignment & Gift Home Furnishings, to 209 Main St., near Ayoob’s Ace Hardware. Her new location is bright and cheery and provides a great showcase for her eclectic array of merchandise. This is Fran’s 12th year in business.

Nine-year Quincy resident Rosetta Kilby has started a new business providing a slew of services. Operating as Dragonfly Rose, she’s the perfect “Girl Friday.” Rose can tackle most any odd jobs that you might need done including — but not limited to — housekeeping, yard work, errands, temporary assignments, house and pet sitting and assorted business and bookkeeping functions. We invite you to take a close look at your newspaper; chances are you will see a noticeable overall improvement in the quality of our printing. You’ll note the pictures are clearer and show more detail, as do the full-color photos and ads.

These improvements came as a result of an investment we’ve made in a computer-direct-to-plate system that eliminates our darkroom and its traditional film processing. This state-of-the-art system, which we brought online two weeks ago, lets us take the images of our newspaper pages created on our Mac computers and send those images directly to an aluminum plate to be used on our presses for offset printing.

Lake Almanor Fitness Center puts the ‘C’ in community
 

Starting their married lives out as part of the larger global community, Garn and Bunny Pringle’s arrival in Chester not only brought multifaceted talents but also a passion for contributing to the local community, its children and young adults.

They opened the Lake Almanor Fitness Center on Oct. 7, 2007, and since that time they have established business practices that have led to many noteworthy accomplishments.
