new name, new award-winning chef

Award-winning chef David Sypnicki is the new executive chef at Aspen Grill, the newly re-named restaurant at Chalet View Lodge on Highway 70 just west of Portola. David just moved to the area from Chico where he was chef de cuisine at Grana restaurant. On a recent visit, he fell in love with the area and the Chalet View property in particular, which prompted the move. David’s credentials also include being the executive chef at Cafe Mingo in Portland, where he won restaurant of the year for 1996-97. He is taking advantage of the wood-fired oven to create a variety of small plates, pizzas and entrees.

Owners Rick and Laura Marchus use it to transport the brand new state-of-the-art carpet cleaning equipment they recently purchased to provide the best service for their clients. Sure adds up! JoAnn Prince at Great Northern Hair Co. in Quincy has been a licensed hair stylist for 51 years, 34 of those years in Quincy and 32 years at Great Northern! Those who know JoAnn know she takes immense pride in a variety of community projects and has done so over the last several decades. She actively volunteers her time and energy for the local service clubs and other organizations. Be sure to thank her for all she has done and will continue to do.


It’s the 30th anniversary for American Valley Hardware in the Plumas Pines Shopping Center in Quincy. Gary and Mary Vogt have a tremendously well-stocked store with everything from paint, plumbing, electrical and automotive parts and supplies to household appliances and gift items.


Originally opened in 1999, St. Bernard Lodge, Bed & Breakfast has been operated by Jim and Sharon for 14 years. The lodge is located on Highway 36, 10 miles west of Chester and only 20 minutes from Lassen Volcanic National Park. The lodge offers lots of services and amenities, including horse boarding.


It’s the 12th anniversary for Rick and Eileen Greenly’s Papa Murphy’s Pizza. It isconveniently locatedin the post office building in Quincy. They are known for their award-winning delicious take and bake pizzas. Their recently acquired business, Dunn’s Midtown Coffee, next to Papa Murphy’s, enjoys its 16th birthday this month!

The extremely talented and entertaining Kepple Family will be performing live this Friday night, Aug. 10, then again Aug. 24 and Sept. 7, at Big Springs Gardens. Linda Pitlock celebrates 20 years

On Aug. 1, 1992, Linda Pitlock went to work for Jim Stockton at State Farm Insurance in Quincy. She helped Richard with the transition when he took over his dad’s agency in 1996. Richard said that during these two decades Linda has helped innumerable customers with their life, health, home and auto insurance and their banking needs. “I know I speak on behalf of our clients and her co-workers when I say how much we all appreciate her years of dedication to the profession and our office,” Richard said.

executive vice presidents named

It was announced this week that Richard L. Belstock has been promoted to executive vice president, chief financial officer and Kerry D. Wilson has been promoted to executive vice president, chief credit officer for Plumas Bank.

As chief financial officer, Belstock manages accounting, internal audit and risk management. His duties include financial reporting, budgeting, asset/liability management and internal controls. He joined the bank as vice president and controller in 2006. A certified public accountant, Belstock has more than 30 years of experience in financial accounting and regulatory reporting with 10 of those years as controller and chief accounting officer for another California bank.
