Here’s a great twist on the term ‘flash mob’ that was first coined in 2003. Typically, it is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, and then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. Locally, some 20–25 Indian Valley women from several groups and organizations — churches, water aerobics folks, a bunko card club and others — got together with their own twist and descended on Crescent Country Sunday, Aug. 25, for an impromptu ‘Cash Mob’ shopping spree. It was the groups’ way of showing their love and support to longtime owners Barbara Tucker and Lisa Forcino and also to thank them for the many challenges they know the two have faced over the years to keep the unique gift store open. The Cash Mob came, shopped and spent, leaving in their wake a heartfelt message of gratitude and love to Barbara and Lisa.

Wouldn’t it be terrific if this Cash Mob concept caught on throughout Plumas County? I’d be hard-pressed to name one of our small businesses that couldn’t use a nice little cash infusion right about now!
