Within two days after publishing a full page spread on the local Union Pacific’s train ride offer written by our Portola Editor Diana Jorgenson, we’re told 175 enthusiastic Plumas County citizens who've always wanted to ride the rails through the canyon bought tickets. Response to the recent article was so great UP added another car, adding that the train was now too long so they pulled off a sleeper car. We’re more than happy your organization publicizes its community events, all we ask is your help in providing all the necessary information, including photos if applicable, in a timely fashion. SEEKING KIDFEST PARTICIPANTS
The annual “Hometown Kidfest” is set for July 31 at Evergreen Market’s parking lot in Greenville. Event coordinator Nathan Tucker said last year more than 300 kids enjoyed the bounce house, face painting, games and other activities in this carnival-like free event. Once again he invites organizations and other interested groups to host a booth, game or some other activity. For more information or to sign up your group or organization, call Nathan at 284-7313.
RECEIVES QUANTUM LEAP AWARD
The Leavitt Group awarded Flanigan-Leavitt Insurance Agency with the "Quantum Leap Award." One agency is selected annually for this award for demonstrating significant effort to further its development. Mike and Valerie Flanigan are the local managing co-owners of the agency.
