Sierra Valley Farms and Romano’s Farmers Market in Beckwourth opens for the season June 4. Again this year, every Friday through the middle of September, owner Kim Romano said they are featuring guest chefs from area restaurants and catering companies. First up June 4 is the accomplished culinary master Sean Conry from Longboards Bar and Grill in Blairsden. Rounding out the month will be acclaimed chefs from Pacific Crest in Truckee; Baxter’s Bistro at Northstar; and Tyler Rockwell from The Lodge at Whitehawk.
Wendy Selvaggio has been named the front office supervisor at Feather River Family Dentistry — formerly known as Plumas District Hospital’s Dental Clinic — on Buck’s Lake Road in Quincy. Wendy will oversee day-to-day operations at the dental clinic to ensure smooth patient flow with Drs. David Reed and Pooja Patel. Prior to joining the PDH family, Wendy was office manager for Grizzly Ranch near Portola.
When it comes to having an eye for blending the right mix of inventory for their market, Bink, Josh and Jeff at Sterling Sage in Greenville seem to have it down to an artful science. The latest is hardwoods cutting boards made by an artist in Chico who also has a home in Clear Creek. You will find them in the gourmet foods and kitchen gadget section of the store. The selection is impressive with all sorts of sizes and styles of boards, including long bread boards with custom ceramic dishes for your olive oil and balsamic vinegar mix (which they also sell) for dipping the cut bread.
NEW ADDITION TO STAFF
Meagan Brennan has joined the staff at Great Northern Hair Co. in downtown Quincy. She offers cuts, coloring, perms, pedicures and manicures. Megan lives in Portola where she has worked for the last two years.
You are invited to join Ralph and Trish Wilburn and their wranglers at their first-ever community appreciation day celebration, May 1, beginning at 2 p.m. This year marks their 10th anniversary as owners of Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch, situated a few miles east of Quincy. As a way of thanking the community, they are holding this special community appreciation day packed full of free family activities and festivities. You’ll enjoy fishing, swimming, lawn games, water games, horseshoe and volleyball tournaments, line dancing, tug of wars and so much more. In addition, the local fire department and the Quincy fire department will display some of their equipment and Mountain Care LifeFlight will bring in a helicopter for display. Door prizes will be given throughout the day. We even understand some special guests are expected to attend.
