photo contest deadline nears

Plumas Bank’s photo submission deadline for the 2013 wall calendar is fast approaching! Carol Murray of Better Homes and Gardens in Portola has been named to the Individual Performance Level for 2011. This is the top honor for sales associates within the organization. “Carol is an outstanding, professional individual to have on our team,” said Cathy Harry, broker and owner of Better Homes and Garden Mason-McDuffie Real Estate. Carol was recognized during a special awards ceremony held recently at Longboards Bar and Grill in Graeagle.

Leonard Harris just opened Fresh Mex, located inside Captain Andy’s Mtn. Market on Ash Street. His takeout specialties include tacos, burritos, enchiladas, rice and beans. Leonard is originally from Gilroy, but has lived in Westwood for the past 16 years.

Big Springs Gardens kicks off its seasonal opening this weekend. Friday night will feature live music and happy hour at 5 p.m. followed by a barbecued buffet dinner at 6 p.m. The breathtaking gardens have been referred to as the “Monet of the Mountains.” Well worth the scenic drive, Big Springs Gardens is located three miles east of Sierra City on Highway 49.
