The USDA Forest Service Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District is beginning the scoping process for the Last Chance Creek Phase II Restoration Project. A detailed description of the purpose and need and proposed action is available online on the Plumas National Forest webpage under Land and Resources Management. The Last Chance Creek Phase II Restoration Project is located on National Forest System lands in the Last Chance Creek Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 5 Watershed, in the Plumas National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan (PNF LRMP) Management Area 40 (Last Chance). The project area is in Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15 of T26N, R13E and Sections 15, 16, and 17 of T26N, R14E.
The Proposed Action is to restore approximately 7.8 miles of Last Chance Creek and short reaches of the confluence zones of two tributaries (Stone Dairy Creek and Clarks Creek) to a functioning condition by re-connecting the channel to its floodplain. The attached document describes the comment procedures, proposed action, project location, purpose of and a need for the proposed action, decision to be made, and the responsible official. The decision on this project is expected by summer of 2012.

The Plumas National Forest is reviewing applications to issue three businesses, Outfitting and Guiding permits for hunting and fishing. The first proposal is for hunting and fishing and is an individual that has not operated on the Plumas. The second proposal is for hunting only and the individual has had a one year temporary permit in 2011. To meet the new Outfitting and Guiding directives and to be more efficient, these permits will be issued for a two year probationary period. If performance is satisfactory the permit may be extended up to an additional 8 years. The third proposal is for fishing only and the individual has had a 5 year permit that expired in 2011. This individual will be offered a 10 year permit.
