Residents of Plumas County from La Porte to Chester saw one of the heaviest hail storms ever on record yesterday at Noon. The storm was punctuated by thunder and lightning.
Lake Almanor Resort founder and businessman J.N. Boshoff, 67, died Sunday night. He established Hamilton Park Resort 14 years ago.
50 YEARS AGO......1961
Public dedication ceremonies opened the newly constructed rerouted section of U.S. Alternate Route 10 between Blairsden and Portola Saturday. Assemblywoman Pauline Davis will preside and cut the ceremonial ribbon.
25 YEARS AGO........1986
The Plumas County fair board unanimously asked for the resignation of Plumas County Fair manager Al Plank, citing failures at the fair under his administration. Plank has been manager since January 1985.
Plumas County District Attorney Gary Fry tendered his resignation effective next month to start a new job in the Santa Cruz District Attorney's office. He was elected to the Plumas position in June of 1982.

Reacting to the acts of terrorism of 911, the Plumas County Courthouse in Quincy reacted by blocking three of the four courthouse entrances and searched each entrant with metal detectors including all employees.
