  • Quick fix: A plumbing problem is forcing the Plumas Unified School District to move its headquarters to the former probation building.
  • Lesser charges: A former Chester Public Utility District general manager pleaded guilty to reduced charges last month in connection with unauthorized use of a district credit card at a Reno strip club.

Almanor Art Show sure to delight

Feather Publishing
7/27/2011

The annual Almanor Art Show returns Aug. 6 –7, to the Collins Pine Lawn in Chester with booths ranging from wildlife photography and watercolors to hand-thrown pottery and unique jewelry.

The show opens at 10 a.m. both days, closing at 5 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Food and drink vendors and live music will be available both days.

A special feature year is a prize drawing for an intricate, wooden scale model of the Butt Lake Dinky locomotive by artist and photographer Tom Mallon. The real locomotive was found at the bottom of Butt Lake in 1996. Proceeds from the drawing will benefit arts education.

Drawing tickets are $5 each, three for $10 or eight for $20. The drawing is Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Almanor Art Show.

Plumas Arts organizes the show. For more information call 283-3402, visit plumasarts.org or stop by the office at 372 Main St. in Quincy.
