The Mount Hough Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest is proposing to rehabilitate Hallsted Campground to improve health and safety standards, improve scenic and recreational uses lost by both the Storrie and Rich Fires, and achieve desired conditions at the campground. Hallsted Campground has been determined to be a key location to provide the public with information on the Rich and Storrie Fires; to interpret fire effects, fire restoration, fire history, and cultural history.
Rehabilitation activities would be implemented in 2011 and 2012 and would include development of interpretive improvements; replacement of the restroom facility, waste water system, electrical system, drinking water system, and campground amenities; development of accessible campsites and a universally accessible trail; and resurfacing and realignment of the campground road and spurs. Hallsted Campground is located in the NE 1/4 of section 22, T 25N, R 8E; near Twain, California.
The Mount Hough Ranger District is asking for comments and concerns about this project. In order for comments to be incorporated most effectively, please submit comments by May 4, 2011.
