All phone and e-mail communication is out at Portola City Hall following a fire earlier today. According to City Manager Jim Murphy, the fire caused major damage, including smoke damage. The City Council will hold an emergency meeting this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Portola library to authorize a temporary office rental and repairs to City Hall.

Murphy said he hoped to have computers and telephone lines switched to a temporary facility tomorrow.
