Downtown Quincy set to sparkle Friday

Feather Publishing

Friday is one of the most anticipated evenings of the year — Quincy Main Street Sparkle.

Come celebrate the magic of the holiday season 5 – 8 p.m. in downtown Quincy.

The Sparkle Light Parade begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Sparkle Princess Costume Contest at 6:30 p.m. The winner will take home $100 in gift certificates from participating chamber businesses.

Entertainment begins at 5 p.m. with the Plumas Charter School and Plumas Christian School students. The Brightwater Singers follow and then the Quincy High School band performs. The Footloose Community Performance Group will dance and the Quincy Brass Band will play holiday staples.

Appearing for the first time at Sparkle are the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Johnny Walker will play “Silent Night” on the harmonica. Get ready to countdown to the tree lighting at 6:59 p.m. while Michele Anderson sings “O Christmas Tree,” accompanied by Kenny Davis on the piano.

William Taylor returns as master of ceremonies and Coreoke Production will provide holiday tunes.

Merchants are hosting open houses with food, drink and special gifts.

See this weeks paper (page 7a) for related special promotions.
