The Plumas National Forest Fisheries Department will host a free fishing derby for children and teens, 15 and younger Saturday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at Round Valley Reservoir near Greenville.
Join the event for a morning of fishing, contests, fish printing, aquatic insects, prizes, food, and fun. Prizes will be given to contest winners at 11 a.m.
Take Highway 89 north from Quincy towards Greenville.Turn left on Hideaway/Round Valley Road in Greenville; it is approximately three miles to the reservoir. If driving south on Highway 89 from Chester, turn right on Main Street in Greenville to the reservoir.
Saturday, Sept. 25, is also National Public Lands Day. Visit publiclandsday.org to find out about the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy and to find out about projects that have been completed by volunteers in the past.
