The Heart K September fundraiser, Country Market Day, will offer an opportunity to win groceries.

The first phase, a successful beef drawing, culminated at the Solar Cook-Off with two lucky winners.

Phase Two begins with the sale of grocery drawing tickets for chances to win gift certificates to local markets.

Tickets donations are $5 each or five tickets for $20, and the drawing will be at the Saturday, Sept. 25, event. There will be seven winners.

Participating stores are Evergreen Market, a $300 gift certificate; $200 certificates from Safeway, Quincy Natural Foods and Sav-Mor Foods; and $100 certificates from Young's Market and Holiday; and $50 from the Peninsula Market.

Tickets are available by phone call to the Feather River Land Trust office at 283-5758 or online at frlt.org.

Event organizers also have tickets, including Vickie Robbennolt at 284-1973 or Trisha Aitken at 284-7480.

Tickets will also be available at the farmers market in Quincy Thursday nights through August.

Many local small business owners are lining up to have their products on display and for sale at the Heart K Country Market Day event.

Look for the following goodies at the market booths between 1 - 6 p.m. at the ranch in Genesee: Black Bottom Cupcakes, handmade soaps by Jan, Riley's Beef Jerky, jams, jellies and fudge, textile arts, jewelry, barbecue sauce by Drunkin Hog, pampering products from Emily's Garden, cakes and pies, treats from The Dog and Pony Treat Co., Sweet Surprises by Traci, toys for the kids and more.

Auctioneer Wes Neer will help sell a selection of items, including a lightweight kayak, an adult mountain bike, two child-size mountain bikes, a pair of lady's snowshoes with poles, handmade quilts, two Philip Hyde prints, a wooden fish carved by Mavis Somers, a wool blanket from Anna Harvey at the Wool Farm, a wine tasting tour for six, fishing and cabin at Lake Haven Resort on the East Shore of Lake Almanor, a wedding cake certificate by Traci's Sweet Surprises, a handmade wood rocking chair by Nancy Neer and other items.

The Genesee Artisans booth will be stocked with the creative original works of locals, and the prices will be reasonable, the objects irresistible.

There will also be plein air artists on the land, painting the scenic ranch and presenting their work for sale. These are some of the best artists and collecting their work these days is a smart idea, according to Aitken.

The folks from Evergreen Market will host a wine tasting booth, and provide delicious fresh chicken for the barbecue lunch.

The girls in the Heart K kitchen will smother that chicken with Drunkin Hog barbecue sauce, grill it all up and fill out the buffet tables with salads, baked beans and bread.

Participants are invited to grab a cold beer or a glass of wine and enjoy music by the Coyote Band.

Masseuse Lori Cannizzaro will have her massage tent set up for those who would enjoy the opportunity to relax after all the excitement.

Entry with lunch is $25, and children under 12 are free.

Tickets are available by phone call to the Feather River Land Trust office at 283-5758 or online at frlt.org.

The price will be the same at the door.
