After completing its final rodeo of the season in Las Vegas last weekend, the Feather River College men’s rodeo won first place overall in the West Coast Region for the third consecutive year.
The women’s team of FRC also fared well, taking third place overall out of the eight teams in the region.
“We get good kids,” said FRC rodeo coach Jesse Segura. “We have a lot of support from everybody here in Quincy.”The FRC men’s team finished with 6,808.5 points, followed by West Hills College in second place with 5,699 points and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo in third place with 4,387.5 points.
On the women’s side, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo won with 6,106.82 points, followed by University Nevada Las Vegas with 3,857 points and Feather River with 2,208.5 points.
FRC had 11 students qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Wyoming, June 12-19. See next week’s sports section for an article about each of the competitors.
This evening, May 12, the FRC rodeo team will hold a benefit rodeo for Jedidiah Lusk at the FRC rodeo arena, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
