Blood drive rescheduled for Jan. 2

Feather Publishing

Due to the inclement weather in Reno on Tuesday, Dec. 3, the United Blood Services crew was unable to make the scheduled blood drive in Quincy that day.

Donors are encouraged to reschedule their appointments for the new date, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. The drive will be held noon – 6 p.m. at the Quincy Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane.

“We realize how inconvenient it is for a drive to be canceled,” says local UBS blood drive coordinator Judy Wright, “but only 3 miles after the crew left Reno last week, it was obvious that they wouldn’t be able to reach Quincy without serious risk.”

While some thought was given to canceling the winter drive altogether, that wasn’t really an option at this time of the year, asserts UBS Donor Recruitment Representative Karla Kessler.

Regarding the new date, Kessler says, “This drive is actually scheduled during dates we refer to as ‘Code Red,’ days that we really need assistance due to the holidays.”

Wright hopes that donors who made appointments for the original date of the drive will go online to bloodhero.com and reschedule themselves for the Jan. 2 event. As always, the sponsor code is “Quincy.”

“What a great way to start the new year,” Wright adds, “by donating blood that could endup saving someone’s life!”
