Celebration of life to be held Saturday
The family of Kevin Stephens announced that a celebration of life gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Veteran’s Hall in Quincy.
The community is invited to attend the potluck. Drinks will be provided by the family.
The Sierra Pacific Industries worker who died in a work-related accident Wednesday morning at the Quincy mill was identified as Kevin Michael Stephens, 24, of Meadow Valley.
Stephens reportedly suffered fatal injuries while he was cleaning a conveyor belt at the mill.
Plumas County Sheriff’s Investigations Sgt. Steve Peay said part of Stephens’ clothing became caught on the belt and he was unable to free himself before being crushed.
Peay said sheriff’s dispatchers received a 911 call from the mill at 5:52 a.m. He said the accident is still under investigation.
The Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified.

A worker at the Sierra Pacific Industries mill in Quincy was reportedly killed in a work-related accident early Wednesday morning, Oct. 30.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a man died “in an industrial accident” at the mill shortly before 6 a.m.
According Investigations Sgt. Steve Peay, the cause of the fatality was under investigation. The name of the victim was being withheld until family members could be notified.
