Traffic delays and at times road closures are occurring on Caribou Road north of Belden Dam this week while a contractor for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. replaces and cleans out culverts, according to PG&E.
The culverts have been impacted by runoff as a result of the Chips Fire, which burned more than 75,000 acres in Plumas County in 2012. Work began Monday, Oct. 21, and continues through Friday, Oct. 25. PG&E’s contractor will make every effort to reduce traffic delays, but the work may require eight-hour road closures today and tomorrow as trenches may need to be wider than what the steel plates can cover.
Notices of the road work are being posted at the Highway 70 and Butt Valley Reservoir ends of Caribou Road.
