Federal government is open for business

Feather Publishing
10/18/2013

The U.S. Forest Service is immediately beginning its process of reinstating timber and stewardship contracts that had been suspended during the shutdown.  In addition, we expect to reopen those recreational facilities typically available in the fall & winter (many sites are closed for the season at the end of September/early October), as soon as employees return to work and we are able to evaluate the cleanliness and safety of each individual facility.  With timber and stewardship contracts, resumption of operations will depend on factors such as weather, terrain conditions and the readiness of contractors to mobilize.  We look forward to working with our stakeholders to make Forest Service programs and activities available to you as soon as possible.
