Whitehawk Ranch Ace of Aces
The Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf group held their Ace of Aces Finals on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Ten ladies participated after one low gross and one low net qualifier had been chosen each month over the season.
We had a tie today for low gross between our captain, Patty McNamara and new member, Barbara Competello.
Patty McNamara won low gross Ace of Aces in a card off with a 79 and Barbara Competello then secured low net with a 67. Next up will be our Club Champion/Captain’s Cup two-day event next week.
Whitehawk also held its annual Sadie Hawkins event this past Sunday, Sept. 8, and the evening was a time to honor Jim and Patsy Purvis on their 50th wedding anniversary. Golf, dinner and a champagne toast were enjoyed by everyone who attended. Congratulations and Thank you, Jim and Patsy.
Bailey Creek Women’s Club
Even though late August felt like fall, the weather could not have been more beautiful for the Bailey Creek Women’s Club Playdays.
On Aug. 28, the ladies played a game of “Criss-Cross” with Diana Pallari, Mary Ashburn, and Joyce Gronroos placing first through third, respectively.Donna White had a birdie on No. 8 and Mary Ashburn chipped in on No. 9.
The club had a nice turnout on Sept. 4, playing for low net and low gross in two flights.Scoring well in the first flight were Barbara Quam (low gross) and Mary Ashburn (low net).In the second flight, Ginger Birchfield took low gross and Doris Prince, low net.Jenni Cesarin chipped in on hole No. 1. Ringer awards for the season wentto Donna White (first) and Mary Ashburn (second) in the first flight and Ginger Birchfield (first) and Jenni Cesarin (second) in the second flight.
A meeting followed and the officers elected for 2013-2015 are:captain, Jenni Cesarin; co-captain, Donna White; treasurer, Lee Hunter; secretary, Lynn Bottini; tournament/rules/ handicap chair, Wynetta Regli.Joan Eychner will continue with the directory and awards will be chaired by Mary Ashburn.
With the course in fabulous shape, it was hard to “hate” anything, however in a game of “Hate ‘Em,” the following went home winners:first flight, Karen Treanor (1st) and Wynnetta Regli (2nd); second flight, Joan Eychner (1st) and Jenni Cesarin (2nd).Karen Treanor chipped in on No. 14, and guest and soon-to-be member Barbara Quam chipped in for a birdie on No. 16.
The game on Thursday, Sept. 12, was Odd or Even.
First place winner in the first flight was Lori Sinclair and second was Karen Tratt. In the second flight, first place winner was Cyndy Horn and Carol Regimbal was second.
It was a good day for birdies and chip-ins. Karen Tratt had a chip-in birdie on 4 and a chip-in on 10. Carol Regimbal had a chip-in birdie on 3. Other chip-ins were by Linda Kluge on 11, Shirley Friedrichs on 12 and Betty Duncan on 7.
It was incorrectly reported that Carol Regimbal was the second place winner in the second flight for the Sept. 5 game. It should have read that Betty Duncan was the winner. Her score was 71. I apologize for the error Betty!
Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club
The two-round GMWGC Partner Eclectic Tournament concluded on Thursday, Sept. 12.In this game, the better net ball of the partners counts as the team score during the first round, and may be improved by the partners’ better ball on each hole during the final round.There were two divisions:Red Tee and Combo Tee.
The Red Tee Division winners were:First place, Barb Crist and Dee Walker with a net 54; second place was a tie among the teams of Joanne Lake/Gail Nelson, Karen Fraser/Debbie Peterson, and Lois Childress/Giuliana Glazer, each with a net 55.
The Combo Tee Division winners were:First Place, Pat Grew/Dink Rife, with a net 54, and Second Place was a tie between the teams of Linda Bilger/Ellen Fearing and Gail Arterburn/Esther Rimbault, with both teams scoring a net 58.
The following players had one chip-in each:Lorraine Cornish, Barb Crist, Alaine Flynn and Debbie Peterson.
Mt. Huff Golf Scores
Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, Scramble at Mt. Huff Golf Course brought out a pretty good crowd of golfers.
In first place at three under par was the team of Jeff Stevens, Loren Lindner and Greg Stevens.
In second place at two under, was the team of Jim Bryant, Dick Grace and Mike Ingle.
Closest to the pin and chip-in were both aced by Jeff Stevens. Way to go, Jeff!
Thursday evening, Sept. 12 brought a light shower but a good turn-out of golfers at Mt. Huff.
Tying up first place at six under par was the team of Jeff Stevens, Todd Johns, Ralph Cote and Jim Bryant and the team of Todd Posch, Gary McClellan, Lynn McClellan, and Joe Pouge. A chip-off decided the winner to be the team headed by Jeff Stevens.
Closest to pin was taken by Don Sheffield who almost — almost — had a hole in one (almost doesn’t count, Don).
The longest drive was taken by Carol Metzdorf.
Graeagle Meadows Men’s Club Championship
Mike Herrington won the Graeagle Meadows Men’s Club Championship for the tenth time since 1985 on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Champions’ Flight was played from the Blue Tees. Mike did not win in 2012; runner up in the Championship Flight this year, Gary Maniery, won the 2012 Championship. It was a spirited contest. After the first day, on Monday, Sept. 9, Gary led with a gross 76 to Mike’s 74. But, on Wednesday Mike shot a two under par gross 70 to Gary’s 79. Congratulations again to Mike for his wonderful round.
In the White Tee Flight, George Fraser won with a net score of 137. Second place was won by Dan Anderson with a score of 140. Third place was won by Joel Patterson with a net score of 142. Fourth place was a tie between Bryan Hansen and Bill Kennedy with scores of 143.
In the Combo Tee Flight, Aubrey Neish won with a net score of 134. Second place was won by Jim Brennan with a net score of 139. Third place was won by Norm Nichols with a net score of 140. Fourth place was won by Tom Gossett with a net score of 142.
