Respected and actively involved community member Jeff Titcomb was presented with an award for “Volunteer of the Year” on June 8. The Greenville Cy Hall Memorial Museum board of directors honored him with the award for dedicating 35 hours of docent service to the museum during its 2012 season.

During his 11-year residency in Indian Valley, Titcomb has occupied his time with many different volunteer works. His current commitments are to the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce, Shasta County Wonderland Association, Plumas County Economic Recovery Committee and the Lassen Gateway Coalition.

In addition to his position with the districts, he currently holds a full-time job with the Indian Valley Community Services District as its interim office manager, and owns his own jewelry business called Sego Lily Designs, based out of Sterling Sage.

In describing his reasons for volunteering Titcomb said, “I found a love and a passion for the area. If you really care and have a passion for the natural beauty and surroundings of it, then you will find the time it takes to make sure the community continues to thrive. It wouldn’t be fair for me to live here and partake of the beauty and not be able to give back.”

Deanna Carter, treasurer and docent chairwoman for the museum, is always recruiting new docents to work at the museum. Shifts available are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested can volunteer for any timeframe, whether an hour a week or an hour a day. Visit the museum during operation hours for more information or visit their Facebook page
