  The Feather River College volleyball team continued its incredible winning streak last week, and was just one win away from reaching to the state championship tournament’s final four.

  FRC hosted Santa Rosa Junior College on Nov. 27. Details of the match were not available at press time. Coverage of the match can be found in next week’s Sports section.

  With a victory over Santa Rosa, the Eagles would advance to the state semi-final match Saturday, Dec. 1 at Fullerton College. The championship match is scheduled for Dec. 2.

  The Eagles played their first two playoff matches last week against Solano on Nov. 20 and Cabrillo on Nov. 24. FRC beat both teams in three games apiece.

  The Eagles currently have an amazing 31-2 record. They went undefeated in conference and haven’t had to play a fourth game since Sept. 19.

  Solano held its own through all three games. The two teams were tied up 15-15 in the first game before FRC blasted away to win the game 25-18. The Eagles stomped Solano in the second game for a 25-9 victory. Solano had an early advantage in the third game and led 5-3. Feather River came back to take the game 25-20.

  Amber Hall led the team in kills with a total of 12. Callie Aberle contributed 10 more, along with six digs. The Eagles’ setter, Marilyn Agae, had 25 assists.

  FRC’s match against Cabrillo was an amazing feat for the Eagles. Cabrillo was seeded seventh in Northern California. The Eagles made a statement by beating Cabrillo in only three games.

  FRC dominated the first game 25-14. The second game was more even. At one point the two teams were tied 16-16. The Eagles ended the game 25-21 with an ace from Agae. The third game was also close in the beginning, but the Eagles never tired and won 25-20.

  Lindsey Ball led the defense with 14 digs. Aberle made 12 kills and several digs. Hall made 11 kills and two blocks. Agae played phenomenally, as always, and assisted 24 times.

  “This is do or die time,” said the team’s coach, Sarah Ritchie. “Our goal from the start of the season was to get to the state championship, so let’s reach our goal.”
