  The Golden Eagles clenched the Golden Valley Conference title this week by taking down Butte and Lassen. Both teams lost to the Eagles in three games apiece.

  FRC traveled to Chico on Nov. 7 in its match-up against Butte. Butte is placed third in the conference. FRC beat Butte 25-23, 25-23 and 25-14.

  Amber Hall led the Eagles with 12 kills. Jeanette Van Sickle added to Hall’s kills with 10 of her own. Marilyn Agae carried the team’s setting with 32 assists. Lindsey Bell led the Eagles’ defense with 22 digs.

  FRC’s victory over Butte sealed the No. 1 spot in the conference for the college. This marked the third year in a row FRC took the conference under coach Sarah Ritchie’s leadership.

  The Eagles finished up their regular season against Lassen. Lassen is placed last in the conference and did not win a single game all season. FRC stomped all over Lassen on Nov. 9. The point spread was 25-12, 25-12 and 25-10.

  Van Sickle made eight kills and three aces. Callie Aberle led the Eagles in serving with six aces and made three kills. Agae continued setting her team up with 27 assists.

  Along with the third year of winning conference, FRC made this season its third year of going undefeated in conference play.

  The team is currently ranked No. 2 in Northern California and fourth in the state.

  State seeding takes place Nov. 19 and FRC’s first playoff match is the following day. The Eagles will play the 15th-rated team for their first match. FRC would likely face the seventh seed in the second round.

  “I’m very proud of my girls,” said Ritchie. “They did awesome this season. I’m looking forward to playoffs and I hope our journey ends in Los Angeles at the state championship.”
