Golf Results for the week of 10/24/2012

Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Plumas Pines women played a game of Best Net Ball of a Threesome. It was a close score with the team of Bev Parry, Jackie Luckey and Renee Walker taking first place with the score of 61 to edge out the second place team of Mary Stonebraker, Mary Peters and Shirley Agnos, who scored a 62. The highlight of the after-golf scoring was awarding Mary Stonebraker a huge carry-over pot for the only chip-in of the day.

The following Tuesday the women played a different kind of game called a One Woman Scramble — allowing a player to hit two balls on each shot. Nine holes were played and half a handicap was used. In the first flight, there was a tie for first place between Renee Walker and Bev Parry, scoring a 23.5, with Renee winning the tie-breaker. Jackie Luckey came in third place with a 24. In the second flight, Toni Conen came in first place in the second flight with a 24. Patty Rohman came in second with a 25.5, and Janet Grijalva placed third with a 28. Everyone enjoyed this game and the opportunity to shoot lights out! Three chip-ins were recorded, by Patty Rohman, Bev Parry and Rory Bowring.

Kudos to all the ladies who played golf at Edgewood Tahoe Golf course, a beautiful course on Lake Tahoe, during the Northern Nevada Senior Women play day Oct. 10. They scored some impressive scores. Jan Pierce, Mary Peters and Diane Trainor won for low net in their flights. Pat Nichols and Joni Gerbasi won second low net in their flights, and Jan Talbott took fourth low net in her flight. Way to represent, ladies!

Mt. Huff Golf Course

Our Indian summer continues as does the great golf at Mt. Huff Golf Course. We had a good turnout Oct. 17 for the Wednesday Morning Scramble at Mt. Huff Golf Course.

Two teams tied for first place. Team members Ron Christensen, Leo Sorosinski, Dick Grace and Loren Lindner brought in one of the teams and the other group members, Jim Bryant, Gary Metzdorf and Mike Ingle, also came in at 7 under par.

Closest to the pin recognition was given to Darel Joseph and there was a three-way tie for the chip-in contest. Ron Christensen, Loren Linder and John Hackett were the scorers, with John Hackett topping them all with an eagle chip-in!

Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club

The final event of the season for the Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club was the Turd Tournament held Oct. 11.

They played a team game of two low net scores on each of nine holes. However, teams did not know which nine holes would be counted until they completed the round.

Winning first place was the team of Dee Walker, Ellen Fearing, Donna Swanson and R. Miller.

Coming in second was the team of Priscilla Piper, Sharon Rogers, Jackie Luckey and Esther Rimbault.

Lynne Hogan, Alaine Flynn, Renee Geilow and Karen Fraser took third place.

Fourth place was won by Ann Fronk, Debbie Peterson, Diane Trainor and Gail Arterburn.

Carol Desmond won the closest to the pin on the third hole with a drive only 13 inches from the hole. Jennifer Zumbro took second place. Her drive was 16 feet, 10 inches from the hole.

Following play members enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Graeagle Meadows Clubhouse. Winning teams were presented awards and the “Turd Queen,” Debbie Peterson, was announced. The weather was great and the food delicious. All in all it was a great day to end th
