Veterans Service Officer, will she stay or will she go?

Plumas County Veterans Service Officer Sheryl Austin began preparing to leave her office about 40 days after her contract was terminated by action of the Board of Supervisors in September.

After that many days with no communication from the county about reclassifying her position, she said wasn't interested in remaining in the county employ.

Work on Spanish Creek Bridge continues

The concrete arch bridge over Spanish Creek carrying state highways 70/89 about 8 miles from Quincy is being built by famed CC Meyers Construction, who rebuilt the freeways in LA in record time after the last quake and who is involved in the relocation of traffic on Yerba Buena with the laterally sliding freeway section for the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge, and a number of other emergency-driven repair projects.

Tempest brewing over school district employees truck

Many residents of and visitors to Quincy have seen it. It’s hard to miss when it’s parked on the street. “It” is an old Ford pickup with numerous racist images and slogans. Sometimes it flies a Confederate flag. The slogans range from the merely crude — “Liberals suck and blow at the same time” — to the disturbing.
