Free flu shot clinic this Thursday
Plumas County Public Health will provide a free flu vaccination clinic at the Plumas County Public Health Agency in Quincy Thursday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. Appointments are not necessary; folks are invited to just walk in. Flu forms are available at the clinic or can be downloaded at http://www.plumascounty.us/index.aspx?nid=2069.

Special district elections were held in Almanor West, Prattville, and East Quincy Community Services District.
Hospitals sue over MediCal cuts
The California Hospital Association filed suit in federal court last week challenging the legality of cuts to the state’s MediCal program. The trade group is expected to return to court this week to ask for a temporary restraining order to keep the cuts from going into effect until the case can be heard.

Meeting held in Twain to discuss possible post office closure
The residents of Twain gathered in the picnic grounds on a brisk Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to save the Twain post office. Tim Holabird from Congressman Tom McClintock’s office opened the meeting. He introduced District Distribution Manager Rick Burtzlaff and Sacramento Discontinuance Coordinator Sandra Raymond of the United States Postal Service and turned the meeting over to them.

Developing an ag “culture”
Last week 20 people with assorted interests and responsibilities related to agriculture gathered at the County Annex to identify and discuss projects to promote Plumas and Sierra counties’ agriculture, livestock and fiber production.
The working group’s efforts are directed at finding a way to enhance and strengthen the ag sector of our local economy.
