Festival goers enjoy a beautifull fall day at Mountain Harvest Fest 2009
Plumas Arts Director Roxanne Valladao expects the eighth annual Mountain Harvest Festival and Microbrew Tasting to provide some welcome relief and entertainment for Plumas residents.
At the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds Saturday, Oct. 9, participants can hear great music: Afro-samba-funk-dance from SambaDa, an eight-piece band complete with Brazilian drums, as well as the vintage funk and old-school soul by the DeVilles.
General Plan working groups are ready to present their draft goals and policies to the full public. Five working groups, representing the five districts within the county, have been working together and separately to identify goals and policies for an updated Plumas County General Plan. They are now ready for your feedback.
Indian Valley Recreation and Parks District recently received a $2,500 "Building Healthy Communities" grant from the Home Depot Foundation.
Grant funds will be used to purchase the materials and supplies needed to landscape the areas around the Nuksa Te' Playground and the Indian Valley Community Center in Greenville.
The Board of Supervisors approved the formation of an ad hoc committee at their Tuesday, Sep. 14, meeting to address Feather River College's request for a "temporary transfer" of up to $5 million from the county.
Feather River College's Sept. 16 board meeting continued to focus on cash flow problems caused by the state of California's failure to pass a budget.
Chief Financial Officer Jim Scoubes asked the board to authorize him to secure a loan from Umpqua Bank. That request followed on the board's loan request to Plumas County for nearly $5 million as an advance on the college's tax revenue.
