Controlled Burn in Meadow Valley Area
There is a controlled burn taking place in an area 2 miles Northeast of Meadow Valley, Ca. (T24N, R09E, Secs. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), beginning today October 18 through October 21 as conditions allow. Smoke production may last 3 - 4 days when active and the estimated direction of smoke travel will be in the North, Northwest (Preferred) areas and may be visible from Meadow Valley, Quincy and Butterfly Valley, Ca. This will be an underburn operation on a total of 137 acres.

Patriotic parade entries sought
Entries are sought for the Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony in Greenville Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.
Walking groups, floats, vehicles — all are welcome and entry is free.
The parade is sponsored annually by the American Legion Post 568 and the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The public was invited to come to the Eastern Plumas Health Care Education Center and tell Rocky Deal, assistant to Congressman Tom McClintock, that proposed cuts to Medicare and MediCal would devastate EPHC’s skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).
Well, come it did. On Thursday, Oct. 13, the public filled all the seats, lined the walls and overflowed out of two open doors. With tempers getting hot a few times, the extra cool air helped.

Investigation of sexual assault in Lassen Park results in arrest
A Red Bluff mother reported to the Red Bluff Police Department that her daughter had been sexually molested earlier this year by Vernon Lee Williamson Jr., age 61. Red Bluff Police Department detectives were able to determine that the minor child (under 12) was molested in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Logue to host townhall meeting with CHP in Graeagle
North State Assemblyman Dan Logue is hosting a townhall meeting with northern divisional leadership from the California Highway Patrol. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Graeagle Fire Hall, 7620 Highway 89.
An open meeting between the public and CHP was requested after Logue held private meetings with community leaders and CHP representatives regarding concerns Logue’s office had received from constituents in Plumas County.

Seneca District Hospital passes annual audit with flying colors

“You can pat yourself on the back for an excellent year and then go back to work,” said certified public accountant Jerrel Tucker, TCA Partners, LLP, to the Seneca Healthcare District board of directors Sept. 29.
Tucker’s comment immediately followed his positive report on the audit for fiscal year 2010-11.
