Schools open Wednesday and on schedule

4/28/2010 - 5:45 a.m.

All schools in the Plumas Unified School District are open Wednesday and starting on schedule, the only chain requirement at this time is east of the Portola area which received about four inches of snow overnight.

Persistent snow showers west of Highway 395 and along and south of Highway 44 have created snow covered roads, especially along Highway 89 south of Graeagle and for Highway 44 west of Susanville. Snow on roads is expected to melt by mid to late morning as strong late April sun warms the road surfaces above freezing.
