The fire ignited on July 29, 2008, in the Feather River Canyon of the Plumas National Forest, between Oroville and Quincy. The fire spread rapidly, and area homes were evacuated.
A 16-year-old Reno resident drowned in Lower Bucks Lake Sunday, Aug. 15, the third drowning this summer in the county. All the victims were under 30.
The Plumas County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received a call from Bucks Lake Fire reporting a possible drowning victim near Camp Timber Wolf around noon.
A forest tour Tuesday, Aug. 10, ended in a hoot, and it wasn't from an owl.
It was a shout of surprised laughter from Quincy Library Group attorney Michael Jackson.
Along for the ride on the tour were Quincy Library Group members, a Sierra Forest Legacy representative, local landowners, Forest Service officers and other forest stakeholders.
