Court sets aside Feather River Inn approvals

Plumas County Superior Court has ordered Plumas County to set aside its approval of the environmental impact report (EIR) and the planned development permit prepared for the Feather River Inn.

Child Support Services rated number one in state

The Plumas County Department of Child Support Services recently completed a decade of excellence, with the local agency being ranked in the top 10 for California counties each fiscal year since at least the year 2000 (local records on the awards only go back that far).

 

Courthouse architect selected

Northern California architecture firm RossDrulisCusenbery has been selected to design the new Quincy courthouse, the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) announced Jan. 31.

The proposed project, which is in the earliest phase of site selection, will provide a new three-courtroom building to replace the court’s space in the current Quincy courthouse, which is functionally deficient and lacking in security features that meet current standards.

 

Portola City Hall closed after fire

The City of Portola has established a temporary City Hall  at the Williams House Museum/Visitor Center, 424 E. Sierra Ave. (Highway 70). The phone number is 832-0671. It will be open at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7. City Manager Jim Murphy said he expected city staff to occupy the temporary location for a week to 10 days. For more information, see the Feb. 9 issue of the newspaper.

All phone and e-mail communication is out at Portola City Hall following a fire earlier today. According to City Manager Jim Murphy, the fire caused major damage, including smoke damage. The City Council will hold an emergency meeting this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Portola library to authorize a temporary office rental and repairs to City Hall.
