John Raymond Harrer, 83

Roy William Trumpeter, 94

 

  John “Jack” Raymond Harrer died Sept. 29, 2009, in Stockton six days after his 83rd birthday. He was born Sept. 23, 1926.

  Jack was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn. Survivors include his brother Jim, sisters Midge and Joan, children David, Jane, Patti and Tom and seven grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Oct. 2, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Rancho Cordova. He is buried alongside MaryAnn at Fair Oaks Cemetery in Fair Oaks.

  Remembrances in Jack’s honor may go to Morton Grove Historical Society in Morton Grove, Ill., or Solano County Library in Fairfield.

 

 

  Roy William Trumpeter, 94, of Canyondam passed away Oct. 8, 2009, from cancer.

  He was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Levanna, Cayuga County, New York, the only son of Fredrick William Trumpeter and Nina Elizabeth Hoyt of Knodishall, England.

  He loved carpentry and working with wood, but mostly just being a cowhand on the ranch and being around animals. He was always quick with a joke.

  Trumpeter joined the Army July 1942, and was sent to New Guinea as a technician and equipment operator, building bridges and airstrips, etc.

  He came home with an honorable discharge July 1945, and went back to being a cowboy, till 1990, when he and his wife Loretta Hilda Trumpeter moved to the mountains, where he worked for his son-in-law David Thayer, driving water truck, which he loved. He did this well into his 80s.

  He leaves behind his son, Thomas Roy Trumpeter of Tacoma, Wash., daughter, Nina Louise Trumpeter and son-in-law David Eric Thayer of Canyon Dam, grandchildren, Erica Raichelle Thayer of Canyon Dam, Sadie Eileen Arnett, Jerry Wade Arnett and Thomas Richard Trumpeter, all of Merced; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Lynn and Cody Wayne Nordman of Merced.

  He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Hilda Trumpeter, Aug. 23, 2007.
