George Allen Saari,63
Quincy native George Allen Saari passed from this life Saturday evening, June 23, 2012, at Plumas District Hospital at the age of 63.
Born Feb. 6, 1949, in Quincy to the late George and Oleta (Richards) Saari, George was raised and educated in Quincy attending Pioneer Elementary and graduating from Quincy High School as a member of the Class of 1967.
Drafted into the military shortly following high school graduation, George served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army as a helicopter crewman and mechanic. George was wounded while serving his country and was honorably discharged in May 1970. Upon returning home to Quincy he went to work in the woods, a career that spanned close to 50 years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, George also enjoyed panning for gold. He will be fondly remembered for his great storytelling as well as always being there to help anyone in need. He was a member of the Quincy Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the NRA.
In passing George leaves his sisters, Doris Saari, of Gold Beach, Ore., and Dolores Parsons, of Buffalo, Wyo.; numerous nieces and nephews, including Oleta Saari who was always there to care for his needs; and two great-grandnephews, Cameron and Ronald.
Military honors will be bestowed upon George in the Meadow Valley District Cemetery Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. An opportunity to express condolences to the family and sign the memorial guest register is available online at fehrmanmortuary.com.
