Appeals court upholds Moonlight decision

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a district court decision denying an injunction for the Moonlight-Wheeler Fire Recovery and Restoration Project.

The appeals court found “the record shows that the district court correctly appliedlegal precedent “in its analysis throughout its thoroughly reasoned opinion.”

 

County closes underaged drinking loophole

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a new ordinance targeting underaged drinking at a Tuesday, Nov. 9, meeting.

District Attorney-elect David Hollister told the board the ordinance would close a loophole that many counties have encountered in state laws.

 

Former coach sues college for racial discrimination

Feather River College, its athletic director Merle Trueblood and its head football coach James Johnson were sued Nov. 11 in United States District Court in Sacramento by Eric Small, former assistant head football coach, on charges of racial discrimination. Small is African-American.

 

Locals look for way to keep transfer station open

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors (BOS) unanimously approved a plan to keep the Graeagle Transfer Site open on weekends for the next month while locals try to find a way to keep it open in the long term.

Graeagle resident Jack Bridge presented the views of a group of community members about the proposed closing of the area’s waste transfer site at a Tuesday, Nov. 9, meeting.
