It’s a tradition: Every year the Calpine Elks hold a New Year’s Day brunch at their lodge on Highway 70 in Maybe.
The Elks prepare a grand breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, country potatoes, biscuits and gravy, fruit and beverages. Wow.
Greenville residents used to boil water notices during major storm events may not have noticed, but they did not receive one this time.
The new state-of-the-art membrane filtration system is handling the storms well, according to chief operator Jesse Lawson, and not balking like the previous system.
Bit by bit, word is getting out about the line-up of Winterfest activities being sponsored by the Chester-Lake Almanor Chamber of Commerce, the business community and local service organizations.
To date, two events have been announced for Saturday, Jan. 15, the Almanor Basin Chapter of the American Red Cross will host an 8 – 11 a.m. breakfast at the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge in Old Town Chester.
