The low pressure trough is now moving out of our area.  Clouds and isolated showers will continue over Siskiyou, northern Shasta, Modoc, Lassen, and Plumas counties until late afternoon. The rest of the north state will partly to mostly sunny, today, with a few clouds. 

Saturday there  will  be partly cloudy skies north of Redding with mostly sunny skies elsewhere. Isolated afternoon showers are  possible over Siskiyou, Modoc, and northern Lassen counties.   Temperatures Saturday will be near normal.  Sunday and Monday high pressure will be back along the west coast.  The north state will be mostly sunny with temperatures 4 to 8 degrees above normal.  Gusty north winds will start late Saturday and continue until Monday afternoon.

Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Light south southwest wind becoming west southwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. West southwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light in the evening.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

  

Almanor continues warm and dry in April

  April in the Lake Almanor Basin continued the recent weather trend of lower than average precipitation and higher than average temperatures. Only 1 inch of snowfall was recorded on the West Shore during April, bringing the season total to 138 inches or 109 percent of the long-term average for this point in the customary water year (July through June).
