Mt. Huff Golf
Wednesday

The wind huffed (no pun intended)and puffed but it couldn’t blow the golfers away on Wednesday, April 24. It did make the win a little harder, however.

There was a tie between two teamswhen the game ended.

First place team A members Darel Joseph, Greg Stevens, and Robert Turcotte came in at two under par.

First place team B members were Gary Metzdorf, Jeff Stevens and Margie Joseph, also blowing in at two under.

Chip-in contest was won by Jeff Stevens while closest to the pin was captured by Greg Stevens.

Remote-controlled aircraft

Question: I am a conservation advocate and an avid wildlife photographer. Over the last several years, I have been photographing birds and landscape views of Southern California’s wildlife areas. I am interested in expanding this documentation with video, and in particular aerial video taken from a remote-controlled electric helicopter. While I am very aware of the need to not disturb or harass local wildlife, I am wondering if there are regulations that restrict or prohibit the use of RC aircraft in or around the perimeter of ecological reserves and conservation areas.

Quincy High’s tennis team hosted its annual invitational April 19-20 with matches being played around the clock. The Plumas Christian School team showed up to compete, as well as Downieville and River City.

“The tournament went great,” said Matt McMorrow, one of Quincy’s coaches. “Everyone had fun and every player got to play.”

Quincy has the only remaining tennis team in Plumas County’s public school system. Chester high had a team last year, but due to rising gas costs decided not to have a team this year. The Plumas Christian School’s program has an extensive history and is still going strong.

Stream and river outlook

There has been lots of talk about the snowpack this spring. It is well below normal: not what most people hoped for. Our north state reservoirs are all in good shape so the lighter-than-usual snowpack is not an immediate disaster. Two consecutive years like this will turn a moderate problem into a major problem.
