Graeagle Transfer Station

The special election to fill the vacancy of the late state Senator Dave Cox is now underway. Sample ballots have been mailed and permanent vote-by-mail ballots were sent Monday, Dec. 6.
The election will be a “consolidated” one with just one polling place — the county courthouse. Voters may vote by mail or at the courthouse. Other regular polling places will not be used.
Two cases of salmon poisoning in dogs have been confirmed in the last two to three weeks; Beckwourth veterinarian Dr. Martin Schafer treated them.
The disease, traditionally found in uncooked salmon, is a regional thing, found from north of San Francisco to Oregon. Eating or licking raw fish infects dogs.
Take a respite from all the holiday hubbub and get into the real spirit of the season by joining with friends and neighbors at any of Plumas Arts’ Words & Music holiday celebrations in the coming weeks.
Each Words & Music venue has a different feel and flair, so start with one and make it a goal to try them all, either this month or in the coming year.
