Graeagle Transfer Station
The Plumas County Department of Public Works will be hosting a public information meeting at the Graeagle Fire Hall on Hwy 89 in Graeagle from 4 PM to 6 PM on Monday, December 13th, 2010 to discuss the status of the Graeagle Transfer Station.
The special election to fill the vacancy of the late state Senator Dave Cox is now underway. Sample ballots have been mailed and permanent vote-by-mail ballots were sent Monday, Dec. 6.
The election will be a “consolidated” one with just one polling place — the county courthouse. Voters may vote by mail or at the courthouse. Other regular polling places will not be used.
Two cases of salmon poisoning in dogs have been confirmed in the last two to three weeks; Beckwourth veterinarian Dr. Martin Schafer treated them.
The disease, traditionally found in uncooked salmon, is a regional thing, found from north of San Francisco to Oregon. Eating or licking raw fish infects dogs.
