June 15, 2011 – The Civil War Series of the 360 sprint cars will be in points competition Saturday night, June 18, at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy. The Dwarf cars will be competing for points after the rain-out of the last race. Chase Nieman will be entering his second season as the big man in the Dwarf car with the dollar sign on its backside. He just graduated from Quincy High on June 10. Father Curt took time off work to prepare for the big event. The Go-Karts will also be racing in their miniature sprint cars with the next generation of drivers.

Stream fishing

A couple days of heavy rain last week followed (finally) by some warm weather have increased the runoff. Stream flows on many area streams have actually increased over the last week or two.

My advice to stream anglers: consider fishing some of our many fine local lakes for the next couple weeks.

If you are determined to fish a stream make sure to present your offering deep. Current conditions are not conducive to surface feeding.

Flows are higher and the water is colder than it usually is this time of year. Use extreme caution when wading.

This Sunday, the best college rodeo teams in the nation will gather in Casper, Wyo., for the week-long College National Finals Rodeo June 12 – 18.

One of the top schools at the national championships will be the Feather River College men’s team, which again dominated the West Coast Region this year.
