Mt. Huff Wednesday Morning Scramble
Smoke? We can still see the ball! The Wednesday morning scramble at Mt. Huff Golf Course was undaunted.
First place team members Robert Turcotte, Jerry Quam and Greg Stevens carried off the honors.
In second place was the team of Barbara Quam, Darel Joseph and Jim Bryant.
A three-way tie for the chip-in contest brought Mike Ingle, Ralph Cote and Greg Stevens into a win.
Closest to the pin was won by Bill McRoberts.
Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club
On Tuesday, July 31, the Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club played a version of “6-6-6” called “1-2-1.” The game consisted of one team member’s best ball on holes one through six, two team members’ best balls on holes seven through 12, and one team member’s best ball on holes 13 – 18. The winners were Chris Hyatt and Laurie McKenzie, along with a blind draw. Laurie McKenzie also “birdied” hole No. 1 with a chip-in that qualified her to win the “chip-in pot” worth $16. Don’t spend it all in one place, Laurie! We are counting on August to be a great month for golf at Whitehawk Ranch, especially in our fun annual “Cowgirl Classic” Tournament to be held Tuesday, Aug. 28. Happy golfing.
9 T Niners, Lake Almanor Country Club
On Aug. 2, it was Bargain Day Golf (pick the golf hole you want to count as par).
Everyone picked the first hole, not much of a surprise. Next time we’ll just call the game day “first hole can be counted as a par.”
We will expect a great turnout.
Susan Williams, winning everything before her handicap drops, took first with a net 30.
Jones Jo was in second place with a 32.
There was a four-way tie at 33 for third place: Sheri Sinn, Ann Bakey, Linda Rawson and Bonnie Lamb.
Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club

Mt. Huff Sunday Scramble
On Sunday, July 29, Mt. Huff Golf Club held the Biggest Little Two Man Scramble in the world. It was a hotly fought round with a great time had by all.
Ron Ridge had a hole-in-one on No. 8; unfortunately that wasn’t the closest to the pin hole, but many did enjoy the free beer.
Gary Metzdorf squeezed the closest to the pin win away from Zach Wood by a few inches.
First place went to the team of Mike and Cheryl Ingle, second to Gary and Carol Metzdorf, third to Dan Rooney and Gary Hughes, and fourth to Ruth and Bill McRoberts. The format was great fun and we plan to have something similar in September.
Mt. Huff Thursday Scramble
Thursday Night Scramble was great, even as the ash rained down on our heads. Loren mixed everyone up pretty well and we all got to know some new people.
Closest to the pin was Jason Stead, while Matt Purdy slammed it for the longest drive.
After a chip-off between four teams, the team of Dick Grace, Butch Back, Gary McClellan and Dave Smuts came in first and second place went to Dan, Matt, Dave and Bob Purdy — a real family affair.
Hope to see you all next week, you can get the scramble in and still make time for the fair. Our new phone number is 284-6300.
