Groups appeal Plumas National Forest OHV plan

Sierra Access Coalition (SAC) and the California Off-Road Vehicle Association (CORVA) recently filed a joint administrative appeal to the Plumas National Forest (PNF) Travel Management Plan.

The appeal document argued the new plan would adversely impact not only motorized recreational use of the forest but also cut down access necessary for "camping, firewood cutting, hunting, fishing, hiking, driving for pleasure, horseback riding, bicycling, nature viewing, relaxing" and other non-motorized uses.
 

Travis Rubke named Teacher of the Year

Out of 140 high schools and hundreds of teachers, it was Greenville Junior Senior High School teacher Travis Rubke who was named Educator of the Year for Region 2.

He was awarded the distinguished title Wednesday, Jan. 5, in Redding, where several local faculty, staff and directors were present.

 

GLRID ready to make the switch to CSD

Grizzly Lake Resort Improvement District (GLRID) has been talking about making the conversion to a community services district for many years. The local agency formation commission (LAFCO) process was lengthy and costly and, while GLRID made halting attempts at pursuing the conversion, the district shied at the cost.
 

County doles out tourism grants

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors (BOS) allocated tourism grant funding to local groups at a meeting Tuesday, Jan. 4.

The individual board members previously ranked the groups' proposals and the clerk of the board averaged those rankings.
