Lack of snow to date has resulted in ideal skating conditions on the river ponds throughout Plumas.

Lights were turned on this week on the thirty foot outdoor Christmas tree placed in the courthouse square.

50 YEARS AGO..........1961

The new six mile section of State Route 89 around the west shore of Lake Almanor has been open to winter travel although it is not entirely complete. Placement of snow markers is yet to be done. Additionally, the Deer Creek Road, State Route 32, will be kept open for travel this winter.

25 YEARS AGO............1986

Quincy Fire Department chief Andy Anderson, interim Plumas County fair manager, will work without pay until the Plumas County Board of Supervisor and fair board select a permanent manager. The position has been vacant since November when Al Plank resigned at the request of the fair board.

10 YEARS AGO.............2001

Richard Hathaway will replace Michael Barry as the new Plumas District Hospital administrator. Barry’s last day was December 11 after eight years in that administrative position.
