-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning's satellite picture (below) shows the low pressure area moving slowly toward the coast.  This system has sent a band of high clouds across Northern California...these clouds will be east of our area later today.  This low will move inland just north of our area later today and Wednesday.  The north coast...Trinity, Siskiyou, the higher elevations of Shasta, and Modoc counties will be partly cloudy later today and Wednesday with a few light showers and thunderstorms.   Lassen and Plumas counties will have a chance of a shower or thunderstorm late this afternoon and early Wednesday.  The valley will stay dry with a few clouds today and early Wednesday.  Temperatures today and Wednesday will be below normal with the valley in the upper 70s and lower 80s and foothills and mid elevations in the mid 60s and 70s.  Gusty southwest to northwest winds are expected this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon.

The low pressure area will continue moving slowly eastward and will be over Idaho and Montana Thursday and Friday.  Most of the north state will be sunny a little warmer Thursday and Friday but there will still be a few clouds over the Modoc county area from the system in Idaho.  Temperatures by Friday will be slightly below normal.

Saturday and Sunday a weak high pressure area pushes northward along the coast. (see map below)  The weekend will be mostly sunny over the inland areas of the state with temperatures slightly above normal.  Late Sunday and Monday a weak  storm system will move into the Pacific Northwest with the southern end bring a few clouds to the far north end of California.
