    The fishing is good right now. Does that mean that you will catch a fish on every cast or even every other cast? No.

  When I say the fishing is “good,” I mean an average angler has a good chance of catching something. And we are all average anglers, especially in the opinion of the fish. That might not fit a mathematician’s definition of “average” but fishing has its very own math. Measurements in particular, being more fluid and subjective when applied to angling, are subject to an entirely different set of rules. But let’s save that discussion for another day.

       Lake Almanor West is proud to announce the hiring of golf professional John Joseph. Joseph has been a head golf professional and instructor for more than 40 years.

       Joseph was named by his peers for six years in a row as one of Golf Digest’s top instructors in northern California before he moved to the Palm Springs area.

Turkeys from eggs

  Question: If I want to raise a couple of turkeys from eggs that I believe came from partly or mostly wild stock, would I run afoul of California law? They would not be used for any business purposes and would remain on my property. I would prefer to let them roam around my place, which is quite large and full of native habitat, as opposed to keeping them penned up. There are currently no wild turkeys in my area.

  The Feather River men’s rodeo team is on the right track to winning its region after taking gold at the West Hills College rodeo in Coalinga last weekend.

  The win keeps the team at the top standing in the West Coast Region. Nationally, Feather River is ranked seventh.

  “Our guys’ team is on the right track to win our region,” assuredly the college’s rodeo coach Jesse Segura. “Unless something catastrophic happens, we should finish first.”
