The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship group has produced a topographic trail map highlighting the varied terrain and world-class trails of the Downieville and Lakes Basin trail systems. The guide is the most up-to-date and informative recreational resource for the area, zeroing in on Plumas and Sierra counties and Plumas and Tahoe national forests, and featuring more than 100 miles of Sierra singletrack.
It shows designations for motorized trails, non-motorized trails, the Pacific Crest Trail, historic trail alignments and Forest Service four-wheel drive dirt roads.
It is printed on waterproof and tear-resistant paper, ensuring the map will survive whatever epic adventure enthusiasts embark on.
Net proceeds from map sales benefit the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship trail maintenance program, and it offers one more way that SBTS can help sustain and enhance trails for generations.
The map cost is $15. To order online, visit sierratrails.org/downieville_lakes_basin_trail_guide. To pick one up in person, visit Yuba Expeditions in Downieville, Gray Eagle Lodge in Lakes Basin, Eco-Centric in Graeagle, Graeagle Market in Graeagle, Patagonia Outlet Store in Reno, Olympic Bike Shop in Tahoe City or Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City.
