Large audience expected for general plan public hearing
Anticipating a large crowd for its public hearing on the general plan update, the Plumas County Board of Supervisors is moving its Nov. 12 meeting to the Mineral Building at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds.
The board’s regular agenda will begin at 10 a.m., and the public hearing on the general plan is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., after the noon recess.
Portola city members discussed the logistics of hiring a new city manager with the City Council at a special meeting Oct. 30.
Many citizens came in with concerns and questions about the job description. At a special meeting Oct. 9, the council suggested turning the city manager position into a part-time job. However, the council began the discussion by ruling that option out.
To honor America’s service men and women, Lassen Volcanic National Park will join other areas managed by the Department of the Interior in waiving entrance fees Saturday, Nov. 9 through Monday, Nov. 11.
“We hope that visitors will come to Lassen Volcanic National Park this weekend to enjoy this wonderful park and remember our veterans and their role in keeping America safe,” said park superintendent Darlene M. Koontz.
Ready or not, the new health insurance requirements are here! Everyone seems to have an opinion as to whether this is a good or bad thing. The fact is, though, it’s required and for many people in our county, it offers free or lower cost health insurance. Coverage will also not be denied for pre-existing conditions or dropped when someone gets very sick or chronically ill.
