Running with the Bears Marathon goes on despite smoke

Even through smoke, the Running with the Bears Marathon will be held this Saturday, Aug. 18. Unless the start line itself is on fire, the race will continue as planned.

Because many runners are dependent on the marathon as a Boston Marathon qualifier and since the registration is nonrefundable, organizer Josie Litchfield has decided to continue with the race.

Racers that are still deciding whether to run or not are urged to still make the drive to the start line and decide from there. The smoke conditions are constantly shifting in Indian Valley and there’s still a chance of clearer skies Saturday morning.
